The West Suffolk Branch of the RSPCA is one of 164 charities that supports the local work of the RSPCA and its inspectors.

As a separately registered branch of the RSPCA, we are primarily responsible for raising funds locally to help animals in our area. Our animal welfare activities are run by local volunteers and we raise money mainly through our shop in Bury St. Edmunds, but also through fundraising events, donations and legacies.

On 11th February 2019, the governing Council of the national RSPCA appointed a group of temporary trustees to manage the RSPCA West Suffolk Branch in line with its umbrella body powers. They did this because there were insufficient local members willing and able to continue as a committee.

We will be responsible for Branch operations, staff and volunteers. Our aim is to work with RSPCA Inspectors to support the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of needy animals from West Suffolk and the wider area. This will ensure that the generous support of local members and donors continues to be applied for the purposes for which it was given.

In managing the Branch, we will apply standard RSPCA processes and procedures designed to protect and support the people working for the Branch, and of course the animals themselves.   We will also seek to reinforce the financial stability of the Branch so as to secure its future as a thriving local animal welfare charity.
