Description

Cats Protection Leicester & County Branch is one of a network of over 250 volunteer run branches and 31 Cats Protection Adoption Centres covering the UK. Our vision is that every cat is given the chance of a life where it will be treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.  Run entirely by volunteers, our branch relies on donations to look after and rehome the cats and kittens in our care.  There are so many ways to help us raise money; no matter how big or small, all donations make a real difference.  Please visit our Support Us page to see how you can help.

What we do

The records for Cats Protection representation in Leicestershire go back to 1965 but it's possible that the branch existed before then. Today we are a, small, dedicated group of volunteers who rescue and re-home cats and kittens in Leicestershire and Rutland. Please note that we are only able to help people, and home cats to addresses, in postcode areas beginning ‘LE’.

As we work in an area that is very well served by a number of animal charities, our main focus is on neutering. We neuter around 1,000 cats per year. To help meet the costs of our ongoing neutering campaign, we hold regular fundraising events and collections

From humble beginnings in 1927, Cats Protection has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. We now help more than 215,000 cats and kittens every year through our network of over 250 volunteer run branches and 32 adoption centres.

We also provide an array of cat care information via our publications, website, and Helpline, promote the benefits of neutering, and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care.

We run a neutering scheme every year to help owners who cannot afford the cost of the operation.

Financial help given by Cats Protection is means tested. To apply for a neutering voucher please telephone 03000 121212.

Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.  It’s an ambitious vision.  However we truly believe it can be achieved because of our passion, our professional approach, and because cats are among the UK’s most popular companion pets.

Cats Protection has simple and clear objectives to help cats:

Homing: Finding good homes for cats in need
Neutering: Supporting and encouraging the neutering of cats
Information: Improving people’s understanding of cats and their care
