****** SNOWY SUFFERS FROM SEVERE SEPERATION ANXIETY AND COULD NOT BE LEFT AT ALL IN HER PREVIOUS HOME, THIS IS SOMETHING SHE MAY ALWAYS SUFFER FROM SO ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE BELOW CRITERIA******
Snowy was unfortunately returned to the Rspca as her owners were unable to keep her due to her severe seperation anxiety. After a short stay here she is now ready to find her forever home.
Lovely Snowy is an older lady with lots of spirit. She is very affectionate once she knows you and will smother you in kisses if you let her! She really enjoys human company and loves a good scratch and cuddle. She does play with toys occasionally, and it is super cute! Once she is in a home environment we are sure she will be much more playful with her toys.
Our girl does suffer with severe seperation anxiety, she cannot cope with being left alone - even if only for a few minutes. She becomes super stressed and restless when left and will bark constantly. We are looking for an owner that is at home 99% of the time - we know this is a big ask but we are sure there is someone out there!! They must also be willing to utilise the help of a clinical behaviourist to help Snowy with her anxieties, so must be financially able to fund this. It will take a lot of time, patience, and training. Why helping Snowy with her seperation issues she will not be able to be left along at all so adopters will need to have friends/family that can look after Snowy while you go out.
Snowy sleeps in a crate, she is very comfortable in this and knows that 'bed' means time to go and lay down inside it. The crate gives her security and she relaxes much better in it than she does on a standard dog bed. New owners will need to get Snowy a crate so that she has this in her new home. She will willingly take herself into her crate too just to relax and chill out, we leave the door open all the time and she is often seen laying in her crate.
Snowy lives for her walks, they are her most favourite thing to do! She loves going out and walks well on her lead and harness. She may be older but that doesn't slow our girl down, new owners need to be able to take Snowy on lots of different walks of different lengths and routes. She gets so excited when she see's her leads come out and gives little barks of joy as well as bouncing all over the place. She does get a little stiff after lots of exercise or lying down for too long.
When out walking at Millbrook Snowy has walked with a few different dogs, she walks nicely next to them and doesn't take much interest in them after the intial sniff. However, she does not enjoy bouncy dogs in her face which is understandable as she is an older gal! She needs work on her re-call so she will need to be kept on a lead in public places - because of this she will need a large private garden with secure fencing for off the lead play at home. Snowy really enjoys chasing tennis balls - so make sure you have an abundant supply!
She can be cheeky when she knows you have food, and has been known to steal some tea from a cup that has been left unattended - this just adds to her character! But of course you'll need to keep an eye on her untill she learns the rules of the house!! She could possibly live with children of secondary school age.
Snowy does need to be the only dog in her new home as she really does deserve all the attention on her. She is such a loving girl and we know she will be a fantastic addition to her new home, if you think you could offer Snowy what she needs then please get in touch!
Due to now being in a national lockdown we are closed for appointments but we are still taking applications for the dogs we have for homing. We can only home animals within an hour of the centre to help us save both time and money.
This application does not guarantee an adoption. We are inundated with applications and we will get in touch with you only if your application is approved. Please bear with us & thank you for your patience.
