Handsome Gingersnap arrived with our inspectors when his previous owner sadly became unwell. He is a very shy boy, and has taken some time to settle in, often hiding on his chair under his blanket. However, in recent days he will pop out to allow us to give him gentle strokes and to take treats - a great breakthrough after several hours spent quietly sitting on his floor!
Gingersnap will need an experienced and patient adopter who will allow him to settle in his own time. He would prefer to have a safe hiding space to call his own which he could retreat to when he felt he needed it, and a quiet, calm, adult only home. If you have the time to put into Gingersnap, we are certain when he learns to trust you he will be a loving and affectionate cat. Gingersnap can be easily startled, so a safe and secure home would suit him best, but once he has gained in confidence, he will need to have outdoor access, so a home in a location away from any busy roads would be best. He has lived with other cats and a dog previously, but we feel he may benefit from being the only pet in his new home. It is possible he would be able to live with a calm and quiet cat-friendly dog or another friendly and confident cat, following a gradual introduction, so we would not rule this out depending on the previous experience of a potential adopter.
Gingersnap needs a very special adopter, who will allow things to move at his own pace and who will not rush him into being handled before he is ready, but we are confident that in time he will make a lovely companion.
