Axil is a wonderful young German Shepherd but he really isn't enjoying the kennel environment at all. When he's away from it, he's able to relax and focus on his handlers, leaning into them for comfort and reassurance, as well as a bit of a fuss. He chases after toys, and this is his favourite outlet to forget his worries. He'd love to find an experienced family who can teach him about life and take him on adventures.
Axil's stress means he isn't really able to focus well on his interactions with other dogs. He will require ongoing training once home with adopters, and help and advice is always on hand for our team. Axil will need a home with no children and his own garden, and to be visited multiple times at the centre to build up a bond with his adopters before he leaves for good. Sadly he also has some problems with his legs and could require some repeat visits to our vet, post adoption, and won't be able to live in a flat.
Axil needs time to get to know his new family before he goes home. As we can't offer meetings at the moment, he'll stay safe with us until restrictions are lifted. If you are interested in applying to adopt Axil, click on the "Come And Meet Me" button and we can start the process, but you'll need to wait for lockdown to end before you can meet him.
In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continueour vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd liketo help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.
