All animals, like us, have individual needs and requirements. By matching these needs we optimise the chance of a successful adoption placement. To make it easier for you to see if your home environment is compatible with the animal you have selected we have bullet pointed Amarillo's specific needs below. Please before beginning the application process for an animal from Southridge double check that the home you can offer meets Amarillo's needs. We would like very much to be able to respond to every adoption application we receive however at the moment this is just not possible for us to do. Therefore, unless your application matches the required criteria we will not be able to email you back, similarly if we receive your application after the animal you are interested in has been reserved.
Please continue to monitor the animals we have up for adoption because one that is a perfect match for you and your home will hopefully become available soon.
Thank you very much for considering adopting one of our animals. We really appreciate your kindness and support.
Amarillo is looking for a home with
- A quiet home without lots of visitors
- experienced cat owners & adults
- owners who are willing to purchase and administer medication for his spinal condition.
- a home with enough space that he is able to seek his own quiet space should he desire to.
- a private secure garden.
Adorable Amarillo is on the lookout for a new home after going through a bit of a rough ordeal and having to spend a long time in a cattery environment. Understandably he is a very frightened boy, exceptionally nervous and easily startled. Any loud noise or sudden move gives him a spook! However, once he knows you, Amarillo is very affectionate and cuddly & he will even roll over and show you his belly when he feels really relaxed. But it takes time to gain his trust and it is very important that this is not rushed. Amarillo will need a very calm home, with owners that can set up a good environment for him - his own space with plenty of spots to hide and retreat to when he gets scared. One of his favourite spots to relax in is his cosy radiator bed, which is hooked up in his pen. From there he can survey his surroundings whilst also feeling safe and secure, raised off of the ground. He would love to have a similar spot in his new home! Amarillo will need lots of patience and reassurance from his new owners, but once he is settled he will have so much love to give back. He is a really sweet boy and a firm favourite amongst the volunteers who have spent lots of time with him. Amarillo's new owners must be aware that he does suffer from spinal problems, which require long-term anti-inflammatory medication. However, he is a very good boy and takes his medication well in a bit of tasty food. His spinal problem does affect his movement, so it is important that Amarillo has access to a private garden which is away from busy roads and railway lines. If you are looking for a true rescue cat who has a lot of love to give, please get in touch with the centre via email. We can discuss his medical with you in more detail if you have a suitable home to offer.
